Information Technology

B.E (Information Technology) is a four year (eight semesters) under graduate programme, affiliation with Rajiv Gandhi Proudyogiki Vishwavidyalaya (RGPV). Admission to the B.E(IT) programme is through a MPPET, conducted by the RGPV. The course is designed to provide comprehensive knowledge of computer science with emphasis on applications together with a judicious blend of technical skills. Each semester is of sixteen weeks duration, besides the examinations. The students have to take 46 courses along with the personal and inter-personal effectiveness, labs and industry training during all the eight semesters.

The Department is headed by Prof. Javed Akhtar Khan who has a huge experience in the area of Information Technology.In Takshshila Institute of Engineering & Technology, a variety of learning tools are used for the acquisition of knowledge and skills. Role-play, Case study, Project work, Field experience, Assignments, Quiz, Seminars, Industry visits etc. are some of the methods used. The defining features of the B.E(IT) curriculum provide exposure to cutting-edge technology given to the students. To impart good quality engineering education, the department focuses on development of practical and application oriented minds. It is our attempt to make students learn by doing rather than by rote learning of topics and subjects.

All computer laboratories of the department are powered by the latest hardware configuration and software technologies. The department enjoys 24-hrs internet connectivity on high speed LAN network and is supported by WLAN network too. It also enjoys support of online IEEE and other journals which are accessible to all students and faculty members. Class rooms of the department are well equipped with online projection facility.

On the education front, B.E(IT) course always brings very high career options and good opportunities, it is important to upgrade the knowledge as well. Major IT companies visit the campus for recruitment of our students. The students of past batches are placed in Infosys, Wipro, IBM, TCS, Accenture and many more.  Students also opt for a course which may be short duration but would help them to specialize in a technology and has demand in market like programming and software development. They may also opt for Masters courses like MBA, MS and M. Tech. from a reputed institute. Every year, many students join reputed Indian and foreign Universities for pursuing higher studies. We at the department are very particular in choosing best destinations for student’s summer and industrial training. Many students have gone overseas for their industrial training.
